THE ROLE
The role of the KITCHEN TECHS will be to assist the chef during busy service and have the ability to step up to cover chefs days off, to be fully accountable for personal presentation, quality of food offered at the waterfront café. running of the kitchen through careful ordering, stock taking and costing. You will have the opportunity to design new menus using seasonal, local produce. The restaurant is very busy and this brings the service element to the business, aside from this there is a large production aspect, ideally you will have this experience within your CV.
It's really important that you must be totally passionate about great food and thrive in a busy environment. The style of food will be Modern British. We prefer experience, but this position also gives the opportunity to start within the catering industry, as all training will be given to the right person! You must be creative, show attention to detail, have artistic flare, and be able to work under pressure but maintain the highest standards of food presentation. This particular site boasts a full service restaurant where customers can take produce away. The business is looking for a person who can also implement strong kitchen practices.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
• The purpose is to maintain excellent standards whilst creating and developing the food production of the business. • The key responsibilities are: - • Excellent communication skills towards customer and team within all areas of the business • Planning and organisation of menus and food production areas • Administration and monitoring of menu success, implementing change to achieve customer needs • Using direction and training to achieve and maintain consistency in product manufacture and presentation • Self-development and creativity of food production to a high standard • Responsible for highlighting any health and safety issues within the working environment i.e. faulty equipment, systems • Responsible for maintaining an acceptable standard of health and hygiene, HACCAP and COSHH within food production areas • The territory of these responsibilities extends throughout all areas of the business at all times

THE ROLE
The role of the operator is to be responsible for consistent presentation of clean crockery, polished cutlery and glassware, and keeping the kitchen stocked with the required serving dishes during lunch service. This is one of the most demanding and important jobs within a restaurant environment and the standards must be high. You must be able to work with speed, common sense, and in a logical manner, High personal standards are required as the kitchen is open plan and in view of the customers. Good communication skills are essential to liaise with the chef and cafe waiting team. You may also be required to assist the waiting staff during afternoons and mornings, and the chef during lunch. This vacancy is very much multi task but is a great learning ground for anyone interested in making catering a career as it is not just one role but a mixture of roles with the opportunity of choosing which area of hospitality to concentrate on.
